A consortium led by French utility giant EDF has achieved financial close for the 120MW Jaalan Bani Bu Ali (JBB) Wind Independent Power Project in Oman. The project is expected to generate sufficient renewable electricity to power more than 13,500 Omani households annually.
Project Details
The JBB Wind Farm will comprise 16 wind turbines, each with a generation capacity of 7.7 MW. Located in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, the project is approximately 440 km from the Port of Duqm.
Commercial operation is expected in Q3 2027. Once operational, the wind farm will avoid over 270,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.
Supporting Oman’s Energy Transition
The project supports Oman Vision 2040 and the sultanate’s objective of increasing the share of renewable energy in the national electricity mix to at least 30% by 2030, while advancing the country’s Net Zero 2050 ambitions.

The project will also contribute to local economic development through job creation, skills transfer, and opportunities for Omani businesses throughout the construction and operational phases.
